Brand Guidelines
Brand guidelines, also known as brand style guides or standards, are a set of rules that define components of a company's brand and how to use its elements across all platforms and channels. Consistency and a coherent identity are critical to ensuring that people have a polished, recognizable experience when coming in contact with any aspect of a brand. It can be a time-consuming, thankless task. Yet the production nerd in me loves the sense of order and peace I get from creating style guides. And from the user’s perspective, I really appreciate working off a well-executed set of standards from clients. My expertise at translating, adhering to and pushing existing client guidelines has made me a better style guide designer.
