Type Faces

I was in a corporate design rut. Working through a busy season had burned me out & I needed a spark to recharge my creativity. I missed drawing for fun and was iInspired by Jessica Hische’s Daily Drop Cap project, so I decided to do a personal instagram challenge. Mashing up my love of drawing, lettering curiosity, unabashed hero worship of Risko & Hirschfeld caricatures, & Viola! My Type Faces project was born.

The process was simple: I chose a letter for each week, posted daily pencil sketches of different music icons, then asked followers to pick their favorite. On the weekend I did a final illustration. It was a lot of work, but it was such a blast I ended up doing a second round focused on actors.
